When the world fell apart.

Eugene O’Kelly was at the peak of his career, living in a beautiful home in New York, happily married with two daughters — when his world fell apart.

In his early 50s, the CEO of the global accounting firm, KPMG, had been feeling unwell and went for a check-up. After multiple examinations and tests, he was given the devastating news that he had inoperable brain cancer and had just three months left to live.

Every Second Counts

After the initial shock, he concluded that he was a lucky man in that he was in no pain and now had 90 days to organise the end of his life on his own terms — something denied to many.

Applying the same focus and intensity that made him successful in business, O’Kelly planned every hour with meticulous care and attention.

The meetings and conversations he had were inspiring and provided the unique perspective of someone who knows that each experience is the last one he will ever have with that person.

Perfect Moments

He reflected on every relationship he had, from the distant business connections to his beloved wife and children and planned what he called ‘unwindings’ with each one, starting with the ‘outer circle’.

Whether it was a 5-minute phone call or a 4-hour leisurely lunch with fine wine and wonderful conversation, he wanted to maximise the number of perfect moments he could experience.

Create Your Own Perfect Moments

Whether it’s an early morning coffee before the world wakes up, a simple walk in the park with a good friend, dinner with your family or a fun night out, perfect moments are what we cherish and will remember.

When you stop to look around, you realise that spontaneous beauty is everywhere.

Take the time to see it.
